Wednesday morning we got up and walked down Cannery Row in Monterey to see all the fun shops. We had breakfast at a place called “First Awakenings” – they are known for their pancakes – so I ordered Apple, Cinnamon, and Oatmeal pancakes. The order comes with 3 pancakes and the lady asked if I wanted all 3 or less. I asked how big they were and she made a circle that looked about 10 inches in diameter – and I said, “Oh, I guess I’ll just have two then!” So they bring out the pancakes and she lied to me! The pancakes were about 14 inches in diameter and almost an inch thick!!! I couldn’t hardly eat one whole pancake – so Zach helped! It was so good though!!
After walking around Monterey, we drove a little south on Highway 1 – back towards Big Sur (since we didn’t get that view the night before). We played on the beach for a little while in Carmel and grabbed a nice deli sandwich at a place called Compagno’s Market & Deli in Monterey. After some time there, we drove north towards Santa Cruz.
Santa Cruz was big! We drove around where the pier was and there were lots of fun little amusement park rides, etc. We watched the waves at the beach for a while then walked around the shops downtown. Then it was time to head toward San Francisco!
