I took the kids to get Easter photos taken a few weekends ago. A friend of mine, Ashley Henry, has a photo studio and does “Easter Mini Sessions” with bunnies, chicks, etc. Ellie had a blast and I’m so happy with how the pictures turned out.
We had a very uneventful Easter because Ellie was sick! She got sick Thursday morning, so I stayed home from work. It was a rough day, but we got through it! By Friday evening she had an appetite back and we thought all was great! She woke up extra early on Saturday morning and acted like she didn’t feel well again. She laid in bed with us and actually fell back asleep for two hours! Luckily Ethan had woken up early also and I cheated by turning the swing on so he would sleep later. We all got to “sleep in” until 8:30, which was nice. Ellie NEVER sleeps in our bed, it’s always playtime for her, so the fact that she slept at all was amazing!! With her well rested, we went about some morning errands. She got sick again at breakfast so we tacked a doctor’s visit for her onto Ethan’s already-scheduled 4-month appointment. The doctor said she could possibly have a tummy virus and gave us some anti-nausea meds. Saturday night she just couldn’t get comfortable to fall asleep, which made for a very late night and rough night all together!! Sunday morning, she slept in until 10am and then fell asleep in Zach’s lap an hour later! We moved her to the couch and she slept for a whole hour! Poor baby was just exhausted!! She never will take a nap in the morning and if she does will never take an afternoon nap, but she took an afternoon nap on Sunday! We made it through Sunday and by that night she seemed to have an appetite again. Monday night she was back to her wonderful, happy self! I miss her when she’s sick!
All that to say, we didn’t do anything for Easter. I didn’t want to give her an Easter basket because it was full of things she either shouldn’t eat while sick or she wouldn’t even want to eat while sick! We’ll celebrate next weekend – she won’t know she missed anything. I was bummed we didn’t get to go to church, but that’s okay.
While the kids took their TWO naps on Sunday, Zach and I worked in our garden! We built two raised garden beds last summer and we got all our dirt for it this year. We’re attempting to grow Lettuce, Spinach, Basil, Cilantro, Broccoli, Sugar Snap Peas, Onions, Bell Peppers, Jalapenos, Tomatoes and Carrots! Not having ever done this before, we are in for a bit of a learning curve, but we’re excited to give it a try! We’ll let you know how it goes! 🙂 Ellie did get to plant some of the snap peas, which I think was a neat experience for her. The following day she was pretending to plant something in my boots, so it must have stuck with her! Hopefully she’ll be open to eating vegetables from our garden if she gets to help in the process!
Here are some other funny things from Ellie this week:
She’s been asking “what shape is this?” a lot lately. It’s pretty fun to talk about all the shapes we see!
She’ll ask for a pony tail and then once I put it in, she decides she doesn’t want it after about 5 minutes! What a girl!
“There’s Two…(fill in the blank) One and Two!” Every time she sees two things, she goes through this little counting game.
I was talking to Ellie the other day about how she will be able to show Ethan how to climb at the park eventually and she said “I can’t wait!”
The “Why?” questions have started!
“I don’t like… (fill in the blank). Ellie don’t like (same thing mentioned the first time)”
We got her official measurements at the doctor’s office and she is 26 pounds and 34” tall!
The other night she was reading a book at bedtime and she set up some stuffed animals on her bookshelf so she could read to them. Zach asked what she was doing and she said to him “Shhh! Don’t talk!” And then to her animals she said, “Close eyes! Go to sleep!” Later in bed, I was laying with her while she drank her milk and she said “Don’t talk! Pink Bear, Duck, Lambie, go to sleep!!!” These were the animals that were sitting on the shelf. It was hilarious!! You can tell we have to tell her to not talk, close her eyes and go to sleep at bed time a lot! 🙂
Here’s a video of Ellie singing “Jesus Loves Me”:
She sure loves her brother! I know Ethan loves her too… he’s got a lot to put up with though!! haha!
