Ethan is already ONE MONTH OLD!! The last few weeks have been so much fun – with Christmas festivities going on and sweet little Ethan just going along for the ride.
Ethan’s newborn clothes fit him just fine, but he also looks pretty comfortable in 3-month clothes. He can sleep in 3-5 hour stretches at night. He goes to sleep between 6:30 and 7:00pm and wakes up for the morning around 6:30 to 7:00am. Sometimes I can get him to take an extra little snooze until 7:30 or 8:00, but not always. He nurses every 2 to 2.5 hours during the day and will always get a little snooze in before another feeding. After the 3:30/4:00pm feeding, we try to keep him awake until bedtime… then he’s extra sleepy and he tends to nurse every hour until bedtime – which I think helps him sleep his long 5-hour stretch first (though, it would be nice if he’d sleep that long in the middle of the night when I’m trying to sleep too!)
I tried dairy a few days before Christmas to see if it really was an issue and he got super congested which caused lots of extra spit-up. Conclusion: definitely a dairy intolerance. I had a few diary items on Christmas day and then went back to the non-dairy diet. He’s still pretty congested and sleeping in the swing (with no movement – it’s just so he can sleep sitting up). In another week he should be feeling better and able to lay in his crib with no issues. I have put him in his crib a few times at night (though the congestion takes over and he has to be moved to the swing) and he can generally fall asleep on his own in the crib – one big scream while he’s getting settled and then he’s OUT! It’s pretty cute! As a second-time-mom, I realize now I should give him some time to settle down before I rush in and scoop him up! 🙂
Ethan is such a sweet boy! I love all the snuggles I get from him! We tried a bottle on Christmas day and he took it with no problem! It was pretty exciting! 🙂
I can’t wait to see how our second month with Ethan goes… he’s a totally different kid than Ellie was, so it’s really neat to learn what this baby needs and get into a rhythm with him!
I LOVE this picture…. too bad I didn’t get the whole “1 Month” part in view!
