Seems like we worked ourselves into a custom cabinetry business… at least for our own home! Above is the final product of our cabinetry work: the TV mount and shelving around it was complete two weeks ago… and today was the completion of the lower cabinet.
We took a short break (a week) between finishing the top cabinets and starting the lower one. We measured and planned last Sunday night and then went to Home Depot to buy the wood and get it all cut to size. Then every night we spent a few hours in the garage to stain & polyurethane the pieces. Today we put all of the pieces together and slid the cabinet into the hole… like a glove:
It fit perfectly! Then we installed the doors and we love it! Here are some more pictures, doors open:
We’re so excited to have spent the time and effort to make our living room look the way we want it, as well as make the “useless” space a lot more usable! Right now we don’t have much to store in the lower cabinet, except for a few random things (including the Guitar Hero guitars!) but someday it will be great storage for kids’ toys!
