Christmas time with a Two-Year-Old was so much fun this year!! We tried to do a lot of Christmas-related activities with Ellie – to help encourage what we’ve been talking about since Ethan came home: Big Sisters get to do fun things and babies don’t!!
We finger-painted Christmas cards for grandparents. Of course, I controlled her fingers quite a bit to get the desired look, but all those dots are her finger prints. The little red berries on the Holly are Ethan’s fingerprints – that wasn’t easy! I’ve decided that every craft we do for grandparents, we need to make an extra one so that I can have one too! 🙂
We cut out and decorated sugar cookies. Ellie liked sticking her fingers into the dough and messing up the shapes daddy made! She enjoyed icing a few cookies – and then eating LOTS of icing and cookies!
We decorated a gingerbread house – again, she kept sticking her finger in what we already decorated and she loved eating the icing! ha!
We had special Christmas present opening evenings with each set of grandparents at their houses. We read the Christmas story quite a few times from the Jesus Storybook Bible and watched some Mickey Mouse Christmas videos, multiple times. We drove around looking at Christmas lights and took Ellie to the “Hudson Christmas” lights display at Hudson gardens. It was COLD but it was beautiful!!
We opened presents from mommy & daddy and from Santa on Christmas morning with all the grandparents at the house. We had a nice breakfast and lunch and desserts!
What a lovely Christmas day it was! We even got snow!
Ellie loved all of her Christmas presents and we’ve had a lot of fun this week playing with all the new things!!
And, well, Ethan just chilled – in someone’s arms, in the pack’n’play or in the moby wrap. He’ll be WAY more active next year!
Ellie was sad today when the Christmas decorations were all put away… we told her she’ll have to wait until next Christmas. I can’t wait to see what Christmas is like next year with Ethan as a one-year-old and Ellie at three-years-old!
