It’s been a pretty uneventful week – just adjusting to the current way of life!
It snowed a few days and Ellie got to go sledding! It was only on a tiny hill in our backyard, but it was her first time and she loved it! Next time it snows, we’ll try to take her to a real hill!
I gave Ethan his first bath on Tuesday. He loved the warm water and he loves getting his head scrubbed. Ethan had his two-week check-up on Wednesday. He weighed in at 8 lbs. 12 oz! He had dropped to 7 lbs. 11 oz. the day after he was born, so he’s gained a whole pound since then!
I believe staying off dairy has helped, but Ethan still acts like his belly hurts. We started giving him some Zantac for his reflux and I think it might be helping. He’s a great eater and he’s sleeping pretty great too. He’ll do three and four hour stretches at night. Sometimes it takes a good hour to get him back to sleep, but it’s not too bad. I try to feed him every two-hours during the day. He takes a long nap in the afternoons during Ellie’s nap – which allows me to lay down for at least an hour. I need it!
We’ve been working on Ellie’s sleeping issues. Slowly, we’re working on NOT having to lay with her to fall asleep at night. I think we’re making progress. She still wakes up multiple times in the night and until Christmas break, it’s just easier for Zach to stay in there with her. We’re hoping she can get over the night wakings soon, or we’ll have to try something different when Zach’s home that week of Christmas and doesn’t have to go to work! We’ll see how it goes! We still have to lay with her at nap time, but she’ll typically fall asleep within 5 minutes, so it’s not that big of a deal at nap time.
Ellie really loves her brother… she likes to pat his back, kiss his nose and hold his hand. When she’s really close to him and he moves his arms, she gets so giddy if he touches her – she thinks he’s trying to tickle her!
