I took Ellie to the doctor for her 9-month check-up today. She weighed in at 17 lbs. 2 oz. She’s 26.5 inches long and has a head circumference of 17.75 inches. She’s in the 20-25th percentile for height & weight, but in the 80th percentile for head circumference!
The doctor was happy with all of her progress and meeting the different milestones. She received her last Hepatitis B shot and had her finger pricked for a hemoglobin test. She didn’t appreciate either of those pokes, but she calmed down pretty quickly when it was over.
She got the bandaid off of her finger within two minutes of getting in the car, so I had to reach back and pull it out of her mouth (luckily I was sitting at a stoplight). Her finger was still bleeding, so by the time we got home (a 5 minute drive) she had blood all over both hands and her face… oops! I didn’t really have any other options, so I just didn’t worry about it. I got her cleaned up while she was still stationary in her car seat, once we got home and then she took a nice long nap.
Two new things just happened in the past day – she can successfully drink water out of a sippy cup now! If we fill it all the way up, she can suck without tipping the cup too much. If it needs to be tipped, she needs some help.
She just started crawling forward tonight. She still tries to push herself backward, but if she REALLY wants to go forward, she can actually go forward.
Such a good baby!
